Thieves have been busy targeting electric cable junction boxes around Calgary, police say.
Thieves have been busy targeting electric cable junction boxes around Calgary, police say.
The Calgary Police Service has received nearly 100 reports of theft or damage to the boxes, the department said Thursday morning in a Facebook post.
Damage to the boxes can affect communication networks across the city, the post said, and leave wires dangerously exposed.
The green or grey boxes dot Calgary streets, usually in alleys or at street corners.
Police ask anyone who sees suspicious activity around the boxes to call the non-emergency line at 403-266-1234. Crimes in progress should be reported to 911.
