The New York Knicks and free-agent power forward Ivan Rabb have reportedly reached an agreement on a two-way contract.

Shams Charania of Stadium and The Athletic reported the deal ahead of the Knicks' 2019-20 season opener Wednesday night against the San Antonio Spurs at the AT&T Center.

Rabb was a standout performer at the University of California, earning first-team All-Pac-12 honors for the 2016-17 season before the Memphis Grizzlies acquired the rights to the second-round pick in the 2017 NBA draft.

The 22-year-old California native made a limited impact across his first two professional campaigns. He averaged 5.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists while shooting 54.7 percent from the field across 49 appearances (13 starts) for the Grizzlies last season.

He also spent some time with the Memphis Hustle, the Grizz's G League affiliate. He averaged an impressive 23.4 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.9 blocks in seven games at that level in 2018-19.

The Grizzlies waived Rabb last week amid final cuts before the 2019-20 campaign.

“It's what I love to do. It's never a challenge. I take it personal. I take it very serious,” he told reporters about his ever-changing role with Memphis prior to his release. “I want to be here for a long time, so wherever the game goes, I want to be there too.”

Rabb will likely struggle to find a consistent role with the Knicks. The team already features a crowded frontcourt rotation with Mitchell Robinson, Julius Randle, Marcus Morris, Bobby Portis and Taj Gibson.

In turn, the former McDonald's All-American is probably bound for another season split between the NBA and the G League.
