The Sacramento Kings have an experienced list of candidates to fill the opening for president of basketball operations.
According to Shams Charania and Sam Amick of The Athletic, the team will begin interviews next week with Pelicans GM Trajan Langdon, Timberwolves executive vice president Sachin Gupta, Heat assistant general manager Adam Simon, Nuggets GM Calvin Booth, Rockets assistant GM Monte McNair and former Hawks GM Wes Wilcox.
Joe Dumars is currently serving as the Kings executive vice president of basketball operations after general manager Vlade Divac stepped down last month.
Langdon has been the Pelicans general manager since May 2019, previously serving as the assistant GM with the Brooklyn Nets. Along with David Griffin, he helped New Orleans land an enormous return for Anthony Davis that included Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball and several first-round picks.
Booth has been the Nuggets assistant general manager for the past two years, helping the team earn a top-three seed in the Western Conference and a trip to the conference semifinals in each season. He also had a 10-year playing career that included a short stint in Sacramento.
Gupta was an assistant GM with the Detroit Pistons for two years before spending last season with the Timberwolves as the executive vice president of basketball operations.
Wilcox has been working at NBA TV but has plenty of experience in NBA front offices, including his time as general manager of the Hawks from 2015-17.
Regardless of who gets the job, they will have their work cut out for them taking over a franchise that has gone 14 seasons without a playoff appearance or winning season. The squad was high enough in the standings to earn a trip to Orlando, Florida, for the NBA restart, but a 3-5 record during the seeding games clinched another year without the postseason.
