Police responded Friday evening to the scene of a possible shooting in Calgary's Beltline community at 14th Avenue and 11th Street S.W.
Staff Sgt. Tom Hanson with Calgary police said tactical officers responded to the scene.
“We have one injured party who sustained an injury, but it has not yet been confirmed if it was the result of a firearm event,” he said.
A spokesperson with Alberta Health Services said a call came in to EMS regarding one male who had suffered injuries resulting from a firearm. That man was transported to Foothills Hospital in stable condition, the spokesperson said.
No updates on the man's condition were immediately available.
Initially, Calgary police said one of the suspects thought to be involved was inside an apartment building in the area.
At approximately 9:15 p.m., Calgary police began to clear the scene while investigators arrived.
Police believe the possible shooting was targeted, and not random. The investigation will continue through the evening, police said.
