Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis will be “good to go” for Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals against the Denver Nuggets, per head coach Frank Vogel to reporters on Friday.
Both Davis, who rolled his ankle in Game 4 on Thursday, and LeBron James, who was kneed in the thigh, will be available.
“Both are experiencing some soreness but are good to go,” Vogel said, per Lakers team reporter Mike Trudell.
Davis suffered the ankle injury after taking a jumper and landing on Denver forward Paul Millsap's right heel with 6:44 left in the fourth quarter of L.A.'s 114-108 win. He fell to the ground in pain but stayed in the game following a timeout.
AD finished with 34 points and five rebounds in 41 minutes.
“Ankle feels fine,” Davis said postgame per Lakers team reporter Mike Trudell. “I got tonight, tomorrow, before the (next) game to get it (better).”
Game 5 will be Saturday at 9 p.m. ET.
Per Kyle Goon of the Orange County Register, Davis is officially listed as questionable for Game 5 and was receiving treatment on his left ankle during the team's Friday gym session.
Davis has largely dominated Denver during the Western Conference Finals thanks to 32.3 points on 55.3 percent shooting.
He hasn't found as much success on the boards (6.5 per game) like he's used to (9.3 boards on average during the regular season), but he's knocked down 89.1 percent of his free throws and managed 1.3 steals per game as well.
In other words, welcoming Davis back for Game 5 is a huge boost for the Lakers, even if his ankle is potentially less than 100 percent following the injury. He did post five points and three rebounds in Game 4 after the fall occurred.
A Lakers win Saturday will clinch L.A.'s first NBA Finals appearance in 10 years, when Kobe Bryant led his team to a seven-game championship series win over the Boston Celtics.
