RCMP in North Vancouver are thanking members of the public for helping them make several arrests following an investigation into a string of knifepoint robberies at local shops earlier this month.
RCMP in North Vancouver say they are grateful to the public for helping them make several arrests following an investigation into a string of knifepoint robberies at local shops earlier this month.
Police arrested three men in connection with eight robberies between April 3, and 11, during which the suspect used a knife to demand cash and other store items, such as lottery tickets and cigarettes, according to a statement emailed Tuesday.
“Last week, we had two goals: to warn the community and to ask for help. You came through, and we want to say thank you,” said Sgt. Peter DeVries.
On April 15, RCMP had issued a public alert asking for help in identifying one suspect they believed was responsible for all eight violent incidents.
The suspect was described as a light-skinned male in his mid-20s, between five feet five inches and five feet 10 inches tall, wearing a face mask and hoodie.
Police said the investigation involved a team of serious crimes investigators with support from front-line patrol officers.
“North Van is a great community that way. We stick together and help each other out. And that makes all of us safer.”
Devries said, because the investigation is ongoing, no further details are being released.
